Running Debian 8 Jessie 64 bit version.

I did the same as Nick Felsiak, great minds think alike, and changed the boot mode.

In addition, I had to install the nonfree package 'firmware-linux-nonfree_0.43_all.deb' to get bluetooth working.

If you have a working internet connection this can be done during the installation phase.

Everything works perfectly.

what is the ethernet chipset?
For me under linux mint 17 there is no ethernet device found.
Wifi is working though.

Running 64 bit Kubuntu 14.04. I had to change the BIOS settings in Advanced>System Configuration>Boot Mode from UEFI to CSM to get it to boot.

Wifi worked out of the box.
