This machine has got to be the easiest install I EVER went through. Everything worked out of the box. Burned Windows 8 to disc using the MSI Burn Recovery Tool on Windows 8. Used a gParted disc I had to wipe the hdd. Went into the BIOS by hitting the delete key. Disabled UEFI and Fast Boot. Enabled Legacy. Booted into a LMDE Cinnamon disc I had burned. Did not have to edit grub. Live disc ran without a hitch. Double clicked the install disc on the desktop. Installed LMDE. When I rebooted, the power light was orange which indicated I was using the GPU ( nVidia/Nouveau ) and not Intel. Went into Synaptic, installed bumblebee, and primus. Rebooted. Upon reboot, power button went white indicating now using the CPU. Installed an applet called “Bumblebee and nVidia Display”. Tested it with a game, and it works. Power light glows orange indicating using nVida/Nouveau GPU. All the FN keys work as expected. All keys on keyboard work as expected. Steelseries backlit keyboard even works and lights up. All dimmer/brightness keys work. The only thing missing is KLM which is MSI's LED keyboard manager which enables switching of keyboard colors. Light blue is the default color and is the only one that works. I have had no luck with js.node scripts I have found here and there although others have. Others reports they are able to use “breathe” and “gaming mode” colors on this laptop with various scripts that are available on github and forums. I haven't been able to figure out the .config file for node.js. I would recommend installing LMDE to this machine. \o/
