Another good option is JoliOS. I have been running 1.2 for about a year. It works fine basic internet browsing.

Asus EeePC 900A, using the factory OS which is AsusOS 1.6 (Xandros based):
Device Compatibility Comments
Processor Not Tested no known issues
Screen Not Tested 1024×600
HDD Not Tested SSD @ 4Gig works fine
Optical Drive Not Tested not available
Graphics Not Tested 1024×600
Sound Not Tested no known issues
Ethernet Not Tested works once activated in software
Wireless Not Tested works once activated in software
USB Not Tested no known issues
Card Reader Not Tested no known issues, supports my Lexar Platinum II 60X 8G SDHC
Camera Not Tested model 900A does not offer a built in camera

Note: I presently use Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 on the 900A. It works … umm, ok, but due to UNR specific issues, I strongly suggest you wait for 9.10 (or later) for UNR.
The UNR issues have mostly to do with user preferences:
-color changes not being what user selected in preferences,
-power management settings not adhered to,
-some software packages malfunctioning:

  1. Eee PC Applet does nothing except ask for passwords
  2. reporting a dual core when Atom n270 is single core
  3. 2 mixer functions operating incorrectly.

-system response after awakening for

a] wireless networking sometimes not being reactivated until power is cycled and
b] screen will dim at random intervals even when typing.

As I mentioned, I think 9.10 will be better for the “Netbook Remix”.

Successfully installed Debian on March 26, 2009. For sound I had to adjust the “front” control in alsamixer to hear anything.

I gave Debian also a try. Everything is working fine EXCEPT the Cardreader. Anybody know this problem ?
